What is ghostwriting?

This is probably my most frequently asked question from people who have never heard of ghostwriting before. When I tell them that I own a ghostwriting business, I get a strange look that tells me they have no idea what I'm talking about. That's okay; I'm not offended. I have several friends whose jobs are a mystery to me. Ghostwriting is a way for non-writers to get things published. For example, I have several clients who have amazing ideas for fiction plots, but simply can't string words together. They contract me to write their novels, then publish them under their own name. Hence the title ghostwriter. I'm a total ghost because no one knows that I'm actually the author. I've done lots of ghostwriting over the last several years, some for books, some for e-books, and others for non-fiction works. I've ghostwritten articles, manuals, e-mails, letters, short stories, novellas, and full-length books. To say that my work is diverse is an understatement; I think that I have the most colorful job on the planet! If you're thinking of starting a ghostwriting business, please don't hesitate to e-mail me with questions/comments/complaints/concerns. I'm going to use this blog to offer advice on the many aspects of ghostwriting, and hopefully to make a few friends! Happy Writing! +LJC+
